Restoration help in Troutdale
Troutdale is where the Columbia Gorge lets out, and that one fact writes the weather. The east wind funnels down the Gorge and Troutdale catches it first and hardest: freezing events that the rest of the metro watches on the news, Troutdale lives. Burst pipes here aren't a maybe; they're a seasonal pattern.
The buildings
Housing runs from the older downtown core through postwar neighborhoods and newer subdivisions, much of it on crawlspaces and exterior-wall plumbing that the east wind finds. The flat ground toward the river stays wet, and the cold arrives earlier and leaves later than a mile west.
The water
Freeze breaks are the signature: supply lines in crawlspaces, hose bibs, and exterior-wall runs going during a Gorge cold snap. The January 2024 ice event broke pipes all over town. The rest of the year it's river-flat groundwater and the usual plumbing list.
The callback
The crew will ask what froze or broke and where it ran. During a regional freeze event the crews triage actively-leaking homes first, so say so if water is still moving.
Coverage
The downtown core, the neighborhoods along the river flats, the newer subdivisions toward the edge, and the corridor west toward Fairview.
