Restoration help in Wood Village
Wood Village is one of the metro's smallest cities: a compact grid of midcentury homes on the flat ground between Fairview and Troutdale, at the mouth of the Gorge. It shares the river flats' water table and the Gorge's east wind, in a package small enough that every part of town sees both.
The buildings
Mostly fifties-and-sixties single-story homes on crawlspaces, dense and modest. The crawlspaces take the ground moisture, the plumbing takes the freeze.
The water
The two local signatures: flatland groundwater in the wet months, and freeze breaks when the Gorge outflow turns cold. Wood Village is small enough that the coverage doesn't vary by neighborhood.
The callback
Whether the water is groundwater or a break is the only real scope question. A flooded crawlspace after a storm and a burst supply line in January both go to the same crew.
Coverage
The whole city grid, and the shared river-flat corridor to either side.
